Jan 01,  · M.I.U. Album is the 22nd studio album by The Beach Boys, released on October 2, on Brother/Reprise. Recorded during a fraught time for the band, only Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Brian Wilson appear consistently throughout the album, with Carl and Dennis Wilson audible on /5(5).

M.I.U. Album also included several of the worst Beach Boys songs ever to make it to vinyl -- up to that point, of course. Though a few of them are partially saved by great harmony vocals, "Belles of Paris," "Winds of Change," and "Match Point of Our Love" (the latter complete with embarrassing tennis metaphors) are close to unlistenable.4/

Aug 15,  · After the relative highs of 15 Big Ones and Love You, the Beach Boys entered -- and never left -- their late-period doldrums with the double shot of 's M.I.U. Album and 's L.A. (Light Album), reissued by Capitol as a two-fer in As with the rest of the reissue catalog, these two LPs match perfectly; both are simply packed with the most cloying songs and banal productions of the 5/

Oct 12,  · I think M.I.U. Album (lovely title) goes down as smoothly as incredibly nondescript, non-charting 70s soft rock jank can, but "Hey Little Tomboy" might be the most misguided and ill-conceived thing they've ever done. It is beyond tasteless and creepy/5(42).

LA album is a lot better on the other hand and makes the package worth getting. Brian is still out the game but bruce johnston helps with the production this time and the result is a mellow, charming record full of great harmonies and tasteful arrangements.3/5(1).

Oct 25,  · The beach boys's equivalent to the Bowie Lp ´s "lodger" IMHO. The harmony vocals are top notch and i got to really love" belles of Paris ", "matchpoint","pitter patter "(The album shortning bread but better), "my Diane"(The only song i liked when I first listented to it), sweet sunday kind of love is gorgeous and Kona coast is nasal but pure Mickey bliss).

L.A. (Light Album) – its title doubling as an obvious play on the group’s longtime home ground – may not have been the most celebrated (or most celebratory) of The Beach Boys’ recordings, but to refer back to its title one more time, there is undeniable brilliance here if one dares to look.
